Ice Station Antarctica
The Exhibition
The exhibition was developed in partnership with the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), Ice Station Antarctica is one of the highlights of the UK's involvement in International Polar Year (2007/2008). It includes a series of real objects and scenarios which allow visitors to feel and test themselves in polar temperatures. Through different challenges and activities, visitors experience the extreme conditions scientists have to face, but also to survive in the continent that is the most windy and cold on our planet! At a simulated research station they have to face temperatures below zero, to drive snowmobiles, to dive into the frozen sea and to study the wild animals of Antarctica!
In its units, visitors discover the everyday life in Antarctica: a settlement in Antarctica, interactive models, audiovisual material, workshops, animals skeletons and plants, fossils, maps and scientific instruments suitable clothes and equipment.
