Days and nights bent
She stays awake working for the fatherland
And while bent she knits,
The Greek woman holds her forehead high.
And needles become swords,
Slipping out of their golden sheaths
To fight with the young warrior.
And they knit till the deep night.
And the thread is never-ending and unfinished
The way Victory is.
