Help for searching the Olympic Database

You can search the Olympics Database to discover who won a game in a particular year, and the city from which they came, and you can see a graphical representation of the winners' cities.

First you must select the desired sport in which the athletes competed. Select from the list of all the various sports, on the top, the sport at which you would like to look. The default is set to show all the sports.

Then you must select the Olympiad. There are two ways to view the victors.

The first is to choose a particular year by selecting the desired year on the time list on the left and then click on the 'Results for one Olympiad' button.

The second way to view the victors is to click on any one of the four images of the different eras of the games. For example, click on the Classical icon to see the winners of the Classical period.

Hints:

- There is an incomplete record of winners, so some specific searches may fail. Also, some games were declared null and void, and the winners were not recorded.
- Games were phased in and out as time progressed.
