The book by Ms Rea Potamiti is a journal of volunteer work, a special book. It touches upon a sensitive world, which however exists on the margins of our society, and with which Ms Potamiti builds a "bridge of hope" through her volunteer activity.

The author dealt actively with volunteerism in the field of social work and particularly at the Correctional Institute for Girls, as part of the Greek Society of Adlerian Psychology. Her experiences there are described in this book, where the narrations of the inmate girls play a major role. Without revealing their real identity, with names borrowed from ancient Greek mythology and drama, so that the readers can identify with them, these young girls with their testimonies have a leading role in the book. They are texts written with humanity, this magical word which can transform by itself the life of people, and provide them a reliable support. Furthermore, views of distinguished scientists, specialists in psychology, criminology and children psychiatry, as well as other volunteers which were part of the groups, enrich the publication.

The Book is on sale at the Museum Shop, in the Cultural Centre of FHW, as well as at major bookstores in Greece. For further information contact the Museum Shop of the Cultural Centre, tel.: +(30) 212 254 0000 or write at sales@ime.gr.
