In this book the author Sophia Petridou-Kapatou describes in a fictional way the life of her father, Giannis Petridis, who was born in 1910 in the village of Palouklar in Pontos, he lived through the expulsion of the Greek Christians from the village after the genocide of the Armenians and the loss of his relatives. His life with a Turkish family in Theodosioupolis, the fact that he was saved by the American delegation, the Orphanage of Prigkipou, in Constantinople, the Zappian American Orphanage in Athens, the American "mother" Theodosia Eshbaugh, who undertook the expenses of little Giannis and supported him until the end of her life, the war in the Albanian front and finally his common life with Maria Korkou from Kefallonia were the most important events in his life. Through the narration of his daughter and author of the book, Sophia Petridou-Kapatou, we witness the life of this man, whose life was influenced by the historical events that appear vividly in the book, highlighting in this way the events that played a decisive role in modern Greek history.
