The book "Sille of Iconium. A Greek town in the heart of Asia Minor" deals with the history of this Asia Minor town, which lay eight kilometers from the capital of Lycaonia, Iconium, but was, culturally speaking, incorporated in Cappadocia. The author, in order to narrate its interesting history, is based on the limited and not easily accessible historical sources, and then he compares them with the written and oral testimonies of Asia Minor people.

Sille, which had a population of 7,000 people in the 19th century, managed to preserve its peculiar Greek idiom, which is unique in all the Greek-speaking world. The town, with its catacombs and churches, was of intense Byzantine character. In addition, it was famous for the intelligence of its hospitable and open-hearted people, many of whom excelled in commerce, for its impressive customs and the interesting folklore events.
