The book ?Pontos. On the edge of the horizon? by Cyrus Kokkas describes with images the unknown Pontos, as it emerges through landscapes, monuments and buildings, but also scenes of everyday life. Nature with its intense contrasts, people through their everyday life and experiences, the Greek past, as it is obvious in the architectural ruins and the life and stories of the local residents, compose the modern history of Pontos. The author visits cities important in the history of Hellenism, such as Trebizond and Kerasous, and the Greek speaking villages, discovers half destroyed monasteries, talks with local people and participates in their everyday life. The albumΆs pictures become even more lively through an introductory text of the historian Vlassis Agtzidis, which presents the history of Pontos from the ancient times, already from the 10th century BC, when we have the earliest Greek presence in the area of Euxinus Pontos, until the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the population exchange.
