The archaeological guide by Ms Eleni Svoronou, a joint publication by the Foundation of the Hellenic World and the ?Erevnites? publishing house, is addressed to children and young people. It includes valuable information about the history of ancient Athens, the cultural framework of the era, the significant people that lived in the city and various references to issues of politics, society, economy, religion, mythology and art. But its greatest part is a pleasant guide to the ancient monuments of the city: Kerameikos, the Ancient and the Roman Agora, the Acropolis, the Olympieion and the Stadium are described in great detail, lively and accurately, in a language adapted to the needs of younger readers. Furthermore, there are numerous helpful features, such as the glossary of terms, various games and knowledge questions that allow the reader to delve in the information while playing and learn in an entertaining way.

It is a book that can equally be used during on-the-spot visits and at home or in the classroom. It is accompanied by analytical maps of the areas to be visited, practical information about access to the sites and coloured illustrations of excellent quality. The book is available in two languages, Greek and English.

The Book is on sale at the Museum Shop, in the Cultural Centre of FHW, as well as at major bookstores in Greece. For further information contact the Museum Shop of the Cultural Centre, tel.: +(30) 212 254 0000 or write at sales@ime.gr.
