The book presents us Minoan Crete, "travels" us 3,500 years back in time, during the Bronze Age, in an exciting tour to the cradle of the first great culture of Europe. It describes in detail the most important centres of the Minoan culture: Knossos, with its secret labyrinth, and the palaces of Faistos, Malia and Zakros. The analytic description of the archaeological sites is of great help during the tour and it attempts to make the visitor more active, more observant and more creative during his walk in the site.

The excellent, coloured illustrations, with representations of monuments and the extraordinary frescoes depicting significant findings or scenes from the life of the Minoans, blend harmoniously with the text. In special frames, at the side of the pages, you can see information for the most important people, the most significant historical events and the institutions of ancient Crete. There are also knowledge games, which transform the book into an exploration game, they provide a lot of elements suitable for educational activities in the site and allow the book to be used in school projects.

The Book is on sale at the Museum Shop, in the Cultural Centre of FHW, as well as at major bookstores in Greece. For further information contact the Museum Shop of the Cultural Centre, tel.: +(30) 212 254 0000 or write at sales@ime.gr.
