This printed educational publication starts with an examination of the history of the Mycenaean culture and then describes in detail the Mycenaean acropolis, which included not only the palace but also the administrative centre of the state (state archives, royal workshops, places of worship, the kingΆs guards, the ancestorsΆ tombs). The Grave Circle I is presented, with the offerings that were discovered, true masterpieces of miniature art, while there is reference to the Mycenaean religion, which besides many of the Olympian gods also included a goddess of nature and a war goddess who ensured victory in battles. Furthermore, there is information about the every day life of the Mycenaeans, their houses, their eating habits and their writing, the well-known Linear A.

Then, the archaeological site outside the acropolis is examined, where there are the Grave Circle II, the graves of Aegisthus and Clytemnestra and houses. A special mention is made to the Treasury of Atreus, the greatest tholos tomb of the whole area. There is also a separate chapter dealing with other archaeological sites of Argolis.

The excellent, colored illustrations, with representations of monuments, the photographs of important findings and scenes from the life of the Mycenaeans help the reader learn about this area in Antiquity. In special frames you can find information for important people (Perseus, Atreus, Agamemnon) and institutions of the political, economic and social life of Mycenae.
