Participation of the Genealogy and Oral History Department in an International Conference, 6-9 March 2008
Four members of the research group of the programme “Cultural and Genealogic Digital Collection of Attica”, Mr. Michalis Varlas, Ms. Athena Daskalaki, Mr. Giannis Karachristos and Ms Anna Nomikou, participated with two speeches in the international conference Researching and theorising the emotional dimensions of learning and researching lives: a neglected species? Organized by the Life History and Biographical Research Network of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults[1]), at Canterbury Christ Church University in Great Britain, on 6-9 March 2008.

Central theme of the conference was the role of emotions in education and research of history of lives and biographies.

In their speeches, FHW’s researchers developed issues relevant to the presence of emotions in the interviews of the programme “Testimonies of Asia Minor Refugees”, as well as to the emotional dimensions of the interviews, showing examples from the testimonies archive.

Additional information about the programme of the conference, abstracts and speeches is available at eh conference’s web site[2].
